ART EXTRAVAGANZA

ART EXTRAVAGANZA will be held on Saturday November 17th from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. We are rapidly approaching our 11th Annual ART EXTRAVAGANZA. Vendors have been signing up since early summer and more are continuing to book space at this annual popular event located on Al Hwy 21 South of Talladega ( and next door to Winterboro School).

Some of our vendors already booked include: Joe Williams and his ever popular pottery, Hugh O'Neal and his exquisite hand carved Christmas ornaments, Betty Howard and her masterfully crafted bead jewelry, Ann Stapleton with a variety of live plants and baked goods, the ever popular Kelly's Jellies with a wide assortment of outstanding flavors made in her kitchen. And the list goes on.

Then for your dining pleasure we have Pop the Top Soda Shop coming with a variety of great luncheon items. And as always we have a lineup all day of GREAT local entertainment including: Cabot Barden, Roger Vines, Teresa Davison Yager, Roy Strickland, Terry Robbins, Rick Haynes, Julie Moon and Bluegrass Connection. Inside the lodge we will have a large selection of fine art produced by many of our wonderfully talented artists. Oh, these make great Gifts!!!

Now folks, we aren't through yet with lining up everything. This is just a sampling.

As a non-profit federal 501c3 organization, we are restoring the Plank Road Station lodge for the purpose of a community center, educational outreach facility, art gallery, and museum.

We are physically located in Winterboro which is approximately 10 miles South of Talladega, 10 miles North of Sylacauga and 9 miles East of Childersburg in Talladega County, Alabama. The lodge sits next to Winterboro School, one of the very few remaining "in use" rock schools. This is a rural area with no town/city support in the immediate surrounding area.

We have Market Day on the 2nd Saturday of the month during the warmer months to help raise funds for restoration projects. We also have an Art Extravaganza on the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year as one of our major fund raisers, a spring art show, and a 4th of July Smoked Boston Butt Sale. Donations are accepted and appreciated. Other fundraisers, including two cookbooks, are also undertaken from time to time.
